When I started studying at the University of Applied Design in Aachen one of my favorite subjects was the optical and anatomical examination and observation of the human being. The other affinity was the process of color and room in more abstract or expressive way. My studies were always inspired by the philosophy of Zen Buddhism or the general meditation over abstract subjects like for example the psychological influence of color in painting. So my Method of operation basically can be described like an inner process. For me it means the mathematics of emotion, showing the inner process in a genius and true way.
I think and feel in pictures, so painting for me is the attempt to make my thoughts visible. When I start a new work it happens spontaneously, without a precise plan. The process of painting can take a very long time. I examine my work and rethink it again and again – I am my strictest critic. During this process I decide to leave a painting in its current state, to work on it again or to use a certain state as a starting point for another painting. Being a friend of the coincidental, one picture is the inspiration for many new ones. The aspect of the experimental moment with my working is very important to me. I am very fond of things I do not reckon with. For me the whole thing is to become more and more me as a medium.
